Heavy rains since May this year, combined with overflowing Lake Victoria have caused severe flooding in large parts of South Sudan. South Sudan is experiencing multiple crises including these unprecedented levels of floods, an influx of returnees and refugees because of the conflict in Sudan, severe food insecurity and hyperinflation. The rainy season has become increasingly severe due to climate change, stretching communities’ ability to cope with the devastation, and in some cases causing permanent displacement of communities.
