The hurricane compounded an already dire situation marked by gang violence, displacement, and food insecurity. Agriculture losses reach up to 90%, and cholera risk is rising due to poor sanitation and contaminated water sources. The Joint Response will prioritize vulnerable households, including female-headed families, persons with disabilities, and survivors of gender-based violence.

De gezamenlijke reactie

The Dutch NGOs Joint Humanitarian Response for Haiti will operate in 24 communes across four departments: Grand’Anse, Sud, Sud-Est, and Nippes. Activities will be implemented through a combination of direct delivery and partnerships with eight local organizations, ensuring community engagement and sustainability.

In het kader van dit gezamenlijke antwoord worden de volgende activiteiten uitgevoerd:

• Water, sanitaire voorzieningen en hygiëne (WASH): Hygiene promotion for 42,623 people; distribution of 5,972 hygiene kits; rehabilitation of 10 water points and repair of 6 drinking water systems; waste removal in IDP sites.
• Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPC): Cash transfers to 3,620 households (USD 160–192 per transfer), reaching 17,750 people.
• Voedselzekerheid en middelen van bestaan (FSL): Agricultural vouchers for 2,500 people; cash-for-work for road repairs.
• Bescherming: Awareness on child protection and gender-based violence; psychosocial support; case management for 150 children.

The JR is planning to reach 42,623 people during this response.
