The new DRA Impact Report provides a summary of our activities during 2017 – including details of joint humanitarian responses in 11 countries.
The Dutch Relief Alliance (DRA) was established in 2015 to improve the effectiveness of the national humanitarian effort. Increased collaboration and a strong commitment to both innovation and the priorities of the UN-endorsed Grand Bargain are at the core of all DRA activities – allowing for humanitarian responses with increased impact.
A new publication outlines the progress the DRA has made against these strategic priorities. The 2017 DRA Impact Report provides a summary of our activities during 2017 – including details of joint humanitarian responses in 11 countries. The report also reflects on lessons learnt and operational highlights over the 12-month period.
The DRA is a coalition of 16 Dutch NGOs in partnership with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). The participating organisations work together in collaborative humanitarian interventions and within nine Working Groups which serve to progress the strategic goals of the coalition.
The Impact Report outlines a number of successes over the course of 2017. The year saw the DRA support more than 3.5 million adults and children to meet their basic needs, such as food, safe water, sanitation, protection, shelter and healthcare. The coalition was active in 11 countries over the course of the year and invested €65 million in humanitarian joint responses.
The report also provides an impression of our collaborative activities in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Central African Republic, Iraq, Nigeria, Somaliland, Puntland and Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Yemen and Zimbabwe. Each response is illustrated with a selection of key initiatives, progress made against beneficiary targets and lessons learnt to further improve our activities.
The activities of our nine Working Groups – active in the areas of advocacy, communications, criteria setting, early warning, finance, innovation, legal, localisation and monitoring and evaluation – are also profiled in the report.
