This Joint Response takes place in five health zones in North & South Kivu. Both provinces have been marked by violent conflict, leading to displacement, food insecurity, malnutrition, epidemics, and protection problems. In this Joint Response, we provide multi-sectoral assistance and sustainable solutions in response to community-identified life-saving needs and protection risks through close collaboration and coordination.

Type of response:

In this Joint Response, we are targeting Masisi health zone in Masisi Territory, Musienene Health Zones in Lubero Territory in North Kivu and South Kivu, Bunyakiri health zone in Kalehe Territory and Fizi & Nundu Health zones in Fizi territory in (East Zone DRC) by providing multi-sectoral assistance and sustainable solutions in response to community-identified life-saving needs and protection risks.
The Joint Response is aimed at helping people survive in a most fragile situation by providing them with basic life-saving assistance such as clean drinking water and safe hygienic circumstances, education, food and protection for both women and children.

While the main focus is on life-saving assistance, there are numerous activities also aimed to build resilience of communities such as provision of agricultural training, savings groups, design and implementation of school improvement plans and re-integration into families and/or communities of children who were recruited into armed groups.
