Syria Protracted Crisis Joint Response 2024 – 2026 (former Government Controlled Area)

Goal: Provide lifesaving and life-sustaining humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable populations, prevention and mitigation of protection risks and increase the resilience of affected communities.

Syria Joint Response is a collaborative initiative involving four big International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) and their local partners, responding to the needs caused by the Syria conflict. The programme seeks to alleviate suffering, promote resilience, and foster recovery. The organisations work together as one consortia aimed at addressing the multifaceted humanitarian crisis in Syria resulting from ongoing conflict. This programme focuses on critical sectors such as Food Security & Livelihoods, Health, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Protection, and Education.

Type of response:

This programme focuses on critical sectors such as Food Security & Livelihoods, ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to adequate food and sustainable income sources; Health, providing essential medical services and support to improve community health outcomes; WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), which aims to enhance access to safe water and adequate hygiene practices; Protection, safeguarding the rights and well-being of affected individuals, particularly women and children; and Education, facilitating access to quality education for displaced children. Through this comprehensive approach, the programme seeks to alleviate suffering, promote resilience, and foster recovery among the Syrian population.

The Joint Response 
In response to the increasing humanitarian needs, Syria Joint Response aiming to addressing the multifaceted humanitarian crisis in Syria resulting from ongoing conflict over the coming three years. The consortium will conduct interventions in coordination and joint collaboration among the partners.

The activities carried out under this Joint Response are the following:

  • WASH: 100,500 beneficiaries. The joint response aims to enhance the access to water, promote hygiene messages and awareness raising, increase the access to safe sewage and solid waste management systems.
  • Education: 8,608 beneficiaries through addressing educational barriers confronting children. The joint response will implement capacity building for teachers, providing of teaching materials, conducting light rehabilitation of Schools and distribute of cash for education.
  • Health: 182,646 beneficiaries will receive health support from the joint response through primary health care centers, physiotherapy services for people with disabilities through, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services and mobile clinics.
  • Food Security & Livelihoods:  joint response will support 85,880 beneficiaries to improve their food security and livelihoods, and to achieve some level of self-dependence and food security. This is through the rehabilitation of bakeries, provision of food vouchers, distribution of food parcels, provision of agriculture inputs and climate smart agriculture training.
  • Protection: joint response mainstream protection throughout all interventions. Additionally, a total of 83,992 beneficiaries will receive protection support focusing on the main activities like protection sessions, case management, psychosocial support, referral to other services, children with disabilities will receive assistive mobility devices and distribution of dignity kits for females.

The main focus is on the most vulnerable households and communities creating a sustainable impact that empowers individuals and communities in crisis situations.

The JR is planning to reach 462,327 people during this response.
