This pilot project aims to tackle the barriers to cash and voucher assistance (CVA) for unaccompanied adolescents by designing with adolescents. Considering that, in general, adolescents are a large overlooked group in humanitarian settings and in Ethiopia adolescent refugees constitute almost 19% of the total population in camps, innovative program models to meet the needs of unaccompanied and separated adolescents are of primary importance. In this pilot project that takes place in Sheder camp in Ethiopia, the project aims to create guidance around safe, ethical CVA programmes, pilot them and share them with the global community. It will draw on the expertise of the International Rescue Committee in implementing cash and protection programmes and Youth Development Labs’ (Ylabs) experience in youth-centered program design models.
