Dutch Relief Alliance starts Acute Crisis Joint Response in Gaza strip

Dutch Relief Alliance partners, in partnership with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are preparing to launch an Acute Joint Response to assist people in need of urgent humanitarian aid in Gaza. As a result of the escalation of violence, the humanitarian crisis is rapidly increasing in scale. People have limited or no access to basic needs such as water, food, healthcare and shelter.

Life-saving activities will be implemented in the Gaza Strip and include Water, Sanitation and Hygiene support, Protection including psychosocial support, healthcare and Multipurpose Cash Assistance. The Joint Response targets 50.296 individuals.

The current total siege of Gaza and bombing of civilian areas have severely impeded humanitarian access. Response partners are preparing the response to start as soon as the situation allows and will last for six months.

Dutch Relief Alliance partners are calling on all parties to protect civilians and to ensure safe and unhindered access for humanitarian actors. We strongly emphasise the responsibility of all parties to uphold international humanitarian law.
