VACANCY: Communication Internship starting in March/April 2023

Are you looking for a meaningful internship in the humanitarian sector? The Dutch Relief Alliance is looking for a communication intern, starting within March, exact start date flexible, for 4-5 months, between 32-36 hours per week. This internship combines conducting communication research with gaining hands-on experience in the communication work field.

 

Who we are

The Dutch Relief Alliance is a coalition of 14 Dutch aid organisations in partnership with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The structure of the alliance enables participating NGOs to respond to major international crises in a timely and effective manner. You can find more information on this website: dutchrelief.org.

The main objectives of the internship are:

to support the internal and external communication efforts of the Dutch Relief Alliance
to support the working groups and task forces of the Dutch Relief Alliance.
The tasks the intern is requested to work on are:

Conduct research on specific topics relevant for communication policies;
Support the Communication Officer in all common communication tasks such as researching target audiences, drafting communication plans, production of communication instruments, updating social media and website.
Coordinate and provide content for the Dutch Relief Alliance website and social media channels;
Coordinate and support internal meetings and events, like the Dutch Relief Alliance annual learning days, working groups or thematic meetings;
Support external events;
Provide hands-on and content support to the different DRA working groups
Education and skills

Finished Bachelor or Masters’ Degree level of communication studies or other relevant field
Good personal communication skills in English;
Good English writing and presentation skills;
Good organisational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
Good command of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Power Point, Excel and Word), various Social Media and WordPress.

You are willing to learn and share your knowledge with others.
Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for an internship, students must also meet the following criteria (non-negotiable):

Be enrolled in a university or an educational institution in the European Union for the entire duration of the internship;
Be available for a minimum of four days a week;
Have, or be able to apply for, a residence permit in the Netherlands (valid for working purposes and for the entire duration of the internship);
Have, or be able to request, a BSN (burgerservicenummer/citizen service number).
